WILLIAMSON COUNTY RECYCLING CENTER

The Williamson County Recycling Center at Hutto, TX is located off of F.M. 1660 north of Highway 79 at 101 Landfill Road. The Recycling Center accepts scrap metal, cardboard, newspapers, phonebooks, magazines, aluminum cans, computers, used oil, plastic, appliances with the Freon removed, and cell phones for the Williamson County Crisis Center. Anyone in the county may use the Recycling Center(s) at no charge.

The Recycling Center has kept over 429 tons of recyclable material from becoming part of the county’s landfill since opening in September 2005 and $22,830 has been deposited into the General Fund through December 2007 on the recycled materials. The number of visitors monthly has increased from a total of 65 in the first month of operation to a total of 321 in January 2008.

After taking office in 2007 Ron Morrison, Williamson County Commissioner Pct #4, extended the hours of operation at the Hutto Recycle Center. The Center is now open Monday – Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon (except for county holidays).

Citizens can pick up free mulch at the Hutto Recycling Center courtesy of Waste Management, the operator of the Williamson County Landfill. As an Alternative to burning brush, the landfill accepts brush and makes it into mulch for a fee of $5.50/cubic yard for clean brush. The Williamson County Landfill is located at 600 Landfill Road; contact number is (512) 759-8881.

Some recycling can also be done at the Williamson County Unified Road System yards at Taylor and Granger. See Hours of Operation information for a contact information and a detailed list of items accepted at those locations.
