EMS Employment Information

Williamson County is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States because of the low cost of living, moderate climate, low crime, and friendly people. As the population grows, the need for paramedics grows as well. If you're interested in a career in emergency medical services, please think about some of these reasons why Williamson County EMS is a good place to work:

Employment Requirements

  • You must be a Paramedic certified or licensed with the Department of State Health Services. For Certification requirements you can contact the Department of State Health Services at: (512) 834-6700 or see these certification requirements.

  • One-year experience as a paramedic with 911 Emergency ALS provider

  • Experience requirement may be waived if field internship was completed with WCEMS or graduate of CoAEMSP accredited program.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Clear driving and criminal record

Williamson County EMS has a thorough and competitive hiring process. This includes an interview, written exam, scenario exam, and pre-employment physical. After hiring on, new paramedics attend classroom and field training for a period of 8 to 12 weeks. All paramedics are assigned to a station working one of three shifts 24 hours on and 48 hours off.
