EMS Education

EMS Clinical Management

The mission of Williamson County EMS Clinical Management is to provide education and quality improvement processes that enhance our ability to deliver clinically excellent emergency medical services.

Continuing education is vital part of EMS. At WCEMS, we strive to provide the best education possible to our paramedics. We view every paramedic in the system as a member of the education team. Our goal is to provide the most up-to-date education on new treatments and devices that we may encounter while always reinforcing the basics. Our education works to promote our vision...to respect, care and serve.

We offer approximately 60 - 70 hours of continuing education each year to every paramedic. Quarterly classes are held in which each shift attends. The classes are a mixture of lecture, hands-on skills and interactive learning. Along with learning the material, the shift track approach promotes teamwork among paramedics that might not have the opportunity to work together. Our medical director, Dr. Stephen Benold, teaches approximately half of every shift track. Topics are chosen from either needs addressed from quality assurance or topics that our paramedics request/suggest.

Along with quarterly shift track classes, we offer ACLS, PHTLS, PEPP, PALS, and basic CPR classes on a consistent basis to our staff. Our goal is to have our entire staff current on all of these classes.
