County Offices Closed Feb. 20

All Williamson County offices will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2012, in observance of Presidents Day. County operations will resume regular hours on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.

Valentine's "Pawty" Pet Promotion

The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is planning a special Valentine’s “Pawty” and promotion for pet adoptions during the week of February 12 to 18. The “Adopt Your Forever Companion” program is offering reduced pet adoptions to encourage pet lovers to add a special new member to their families at this customarily amorous time.

January 31 Property Tax Deadline

The Williamson County Tax Assessor/Collector’s office reminds property owners that Tuesday January 31st, 2012, is the state mandated deadline to pay 2011 property taxes.

Williamson County Lifts Burn Ban

Pct. 4 Constable Moves Office

The office of Precinct 4 Constable Marty Ruble will be moving from its current location in Taylor at 2501 Mallard Lane to the Williamson County Taylor Annex, 412 Vance Street. The office will be closed on Monday, November 7, and Tuesday, November 8, for the move and will reopen at the new location on Wednesday, November 9. The Constable will be switching offices with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office East Side Command located on the second floor of the annex, and the Sheriff’s Office will be moving to the Constable's former office on Mallard Lane.

County Extends Burn Ban 90 Days

The Williamson County Commissioners Court extended the burn ban for 90 days on October 18. The burn includes prohibiting smoking in Williamson County owned parks, preserves and trails due to the extreme drought conditions and high fire danger. Outdoor cooking is allowed as long as it is done in an enclosure that serves to contain all flames and/or sparks. The order also allows welding, cutting and grinding operations or hot works operations when they comply with specific fire safety guidelines.

Fire Victims Eligible for Federal Funds

Williamson County has been added to the list of counties eligible to receive federal funds to help people recover from the wildfires that began August 30, 2011. The Federal Disaster Declaration is for individual assistance to people who suffered a loss due to wildfires. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs.

County Prohibits Smoking in Its Parks

On September 13, the Williamson County Commissioners Court amended the burn ban that was adopted July 19, 2011, to include prohibiting smoking in Williamson County owned parks, preserves and trails due to the extreme drought conditions and high fire danger. Helping Fire Victims

In this time of crisis, many people are asking what they can do to help the victims. The list of charities and donation locations does change, so Williamson County will refer citizens to a page where this information is being listed and updated. The Austin American-Statesman has created a Facebook community page devoted to recovery and relief efforts. On that page, you can share links and information at www.facebook.com/centexrecovery.

Court Adopts New Precinct Boundaries

At the Commissioners Court meeting on Tuesday, July 26, the Commissioners Court adopted new commissioner, justice of the peace and constable precinct boundaries. The boundary maps will now be sent to the United States Department of Justice for review. If there are no objections, the plan is adopted and the changes are effective January 1, 2012.
