Unified Road Systems

One of the major functions of county government is to build and maintain a network of roads and bridges in unincorporated areas of the county. This department has that responsibility, as well as the supporting functions of the County Engineer's office and the maintenance of county vehicles. Our goal is to serve the public, business, the real estate community, and departments in the County government efficiently and cost effectively.

We have on-line information for developers including commonly needed publications and forms from the County Engineer's office. You may also find more information in the answers to Frequently Asked Questions which follow.

Just over 1/6 of the budget goes for maintaining the 1,700 miles of County roads spread over an area of 1,124 square miles. If you are interested, we have more information on the County budget and the Unified Road System's budget.
