On January 8,2007, Governor Rick Perry appointed Mark J. Silverstone as the first judge of the 425th District Court of Williamson County, Texas. Judge Silverstone took the oath of office on January 26,2007.
Judge Silverstone was born in Brownsville, Texas, on May 30, 1949, and was raised in Austin, Texas. Judge Silverstone graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (BBA with honors - 1971) and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. - 1974), after which he practiced law with the same law firm until taking his oath of office for the 425th.
In addition to serving his clients, Judge Silverstone has consistently provided free legal services to those who could not afford to hire a lawyer, twice having been recognized for his work. Judge Silverstone has also assisted or served on the board of directors of several non-profit community organizations.
Judge Silverstone is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Williamson County Bar Association (were he currently serves as a member of the board of directors) and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Judge Silverstone is married to Georganna Silverstone and is the step-father of two sons.
